HNM Web Gallery Creator - Documentation
Cope with typical problems (frequently asked questions)
"I don't want to use the wizard. How can I turn it off?"
In the menu under "Options". Uncheck the option "Start with Wizard".
"Where can I download the pro version?"
The pro version is hidden in the free version. With a registration code, you can turn the free version into the pro version, which has more features.
"Where can I get the pro version?"
You can buy a registration code that enables the pro version. The registration wizard in the menu will help you. Remember to go online
before ordering. When placing an order, you can use a credit card or other methods of payment.
"What do I do if the images/thumbnails don't show on the web although everything is fine on my computer?"
There are several possible explanations for this problem. For each, there is a different solution.
-
The windows file system is not case-sensitive. So it doesn't matter if you use upper- or lower-case-letters in the file name. Most servers
however have a case-sensitive file system. So, if a file already exists on your computer with the same letters, but with other letters being upper- or -lower-case, then the Web Gallery Creator overwrites the file with the correct filename, but the windows filesystem uses the spelling of the old file. With the Web Gallery Creator, only directories may cause this problem. As the Web Gallery Creator checks this, it will display a warning and asks how to solve it.
An example for this problem is: Your image directory already existed, but spelled slightly different, e.g. "Images" instead of "images". You can either rename the directory on your disc and your server from "Images" to "images" or you create the gallery again and use "Images" instead of "images" as Image directory.
-
You might have used special characters in the file name (e.g.@&%). Remove the special characters and try again.
-
The ftp upload failed. Maybe the server disconnected or for a similar reason and you haven't noticed. So, you have to try the upload again. You can either use the ftp of the Web Gallery Creator again or use a standard ftp program for this. You have to upload all HTML files in the main directory and the image directory with all images and HTMLs.
"What to do if an error message says something like (JPEG Fehler ..)?"
Then try to save the gallery and reload it. This is a mystic bug, until this problem is solved, this measure will help.
"What to do if an error message says something like "Datei c:\mydir\c:\mydir\myimagedir\myimage.jpg kann nicht erstellt werden"?"
You probably entered a complete path in the image directory field.
This field must contain a simple name for a subdirectory (e.g. "images").
"What should I do if I lost the registration code?"
Contact support@hnm-freeware.com, providing the information that identifies you.
"What should I do if the registration code doesn't work?"
There are several possible solutions, depending on the cause.
- The name and the code are case-senstive. Make sure you entered them correctly.
- You misinterpreted a letter, e.g. "1","l" (lower-case L), "I" (upper-case i) look similar in many fonts.
- Maybe the code was accepted and you didn't get a message telling you so. If the code was wrong
an error message will appear and your browser will open the registration page. If you see no error message, the code was accepted.
It is best to copy the name from the e-mail in which you received the code and then paste it into the appropriate field. Do the same with the code. If that doesn't work, contact support@hnm-freeware.com providing information to identify you.
